These photos of Clair Charles "Bubby" Herman were graciously provided my his great-niece, Lana Patterson. Herman was 18 years old when he was inducted in February 1942, which is reflected in the early-war denim fatigues and the M-1903 rifle is his photos.  He was stationed at Croft for basic training and afterwards assigned to the 38th "Cyclone" Division which served in the Pacific.
