Ex USS EDWARDS (Type A - BURNHAM
Class) built by Bethlehem Steel at Squantum and
launched on 10th October 1918.
Transferred under UK/US Lease Land Agreement and commissioned at Halifax,
Nova Scotia into the RN service as HMS
BUXTON on 8 October 1940.
She was the first RN warship having this name, which like other TOWN Class , is shared by towns In the UK and USA.

HMS BUXTON was sold
far breaking up in
Baltimore on 21st
March 1946 and taken in tow to the breaker’s
yard later that year. This ship had
an undistinguished war record with bot RN and RCN, punctuated by frequent
