I have been going though Agent Orange sites looking for ones that our current and up to date..
I would like to find one with an active message board...
most of them that I have found are dying for lack of concern...
also I would like for all of us to list the people we know individually (not by name for privacy reasons) but by relationship that have been dx with Agent Orange related disease..
We have a lot of people viewing and not posting please if this issue has touched your life through family or friends or perhaps your own life come and tell us about it.
A poll of out community might give the world an idea of how important this issue is.
my personal list includes the kids daddy..deceased...my bro...a cousin...a friend...I won't count the vets on the board..I know here...

Sorry kid, I have not found any chat sites on the subject that are very active at all. Of course when someone says, "You have cancer", too many people just seem to shut down.
There are two guys from my first platoon who have AO related skin problems, things like blister that just show up on their backs, sometimes 6" in diameter, bad rashes, stuff like that. Two high school friends, one with the 4th Division, one who was around Da Nang have lymphoma, just like me, the one who was up north died last year.
Any numbers you get will be much smaller than they should be. I was originally told I had fevers of an unknown origin. In the 70s, and since then I know of several vets who died from fevers. Medical knowlege has come a long way in the last 30 years. They would have to dig up a bunch of these folks to learn that they had cancer. I'd doubt that will happen.
Anyway you look at it, the numbers a large, much larger than the government will every admit. I think it's like PTSD. I lot of people after all wars have had it, but some are too John Wayne to admit they have a problem. As you know PTSD can also result in fatal problems.
It's sad that so many people think that all the KIA'S from Vietnam are etched on the wall, when the fact is people are still loosing their lives as a direct result of war.
Sorry for making such a depressing post but that is my honest opinion.
You stay healthy,
Andy

Someone went through one on the list (not cancer). Ok for now.

Andy thank you for finding this post and responding. I was feeling pretty blue about it to tell you the truth. The reason being that I feel it is a dead issue (pardon the pun) with most people. That is unless it has happened to you or someone close to you. You said all the things that I feel only a whole lot better than I can say it.
In 1997 the high numbers of deaths from PTSD related sucide and Agent Orange came home to me while reading through pages and pages of newpapers clipping placed in notebook binders. I mentioned this on another thread. They were layed out at a little stand near the Wall in DC. I think the government shut them down. They were considered an eyesore. And I am sure way to controversial. It is the only time I didn't feel alone in the sorrow that I felt for the ones that have died alone without acknowlegement.
I read every word that you wrote Andy and I hear you. Thank you..sis
