I buried my Step-Father on 5/2/2002. His name was cpl. Julius W. Lang and he was a veteran of the China-India-Burma campagn. He served as an aircraft mechanic and crew member, flying "the hump" and dropping supplies to groups such as Merryll's Marrauders, General Chang Kai-shek and others.
My Step-Dad was 83 years old and died in his sleep on 4/27/2002, as a result of multiple strokes and cancer of the bladder.
He was part of the 10th AirForce / 3rd Cargo Group. If anyone on this forum knew him or served with this unit, please drop me a line. He was very quite about his service and I would like to know more, if at all possible. Also, I have almost 100 photos that he took, both on the ground and from the air that I am going to try and get posted eventually. Some were classified until after 1955, others were the "standard" photos of guys he served with and the native inhabitants of Burma.
Since we both served in jungles, we had a special respect and understanding of the difficulties we each faced in our respective wars.
He was buried at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.

Sgt Tropo,
I'm sorry to hear about your step-dad.

My wife used to work with a guy that was an aircraft mechanic in the CBI theatre. I wonder if they crossed paths.

My wife's father died last night. He served in the Navy during WWII. For the last 3 years he had been severely handicapped by a stroke. He had several more small strokes in the last few months.

He served aboard several ships in the Pacific. Had pictures of the ships on the wall in his room. He'll be missed.

Another WW II Vet says farewell!
