Just got back from viewing WindTalkers. A not too bad WWII flick. It has a lot of action. The plot makes sense. The normal built in conflicts are there: New guys in a unit, whites making fun of Native Americans, and the guy (Cage) with a personal conflict to solve. The down side it does not give anybody a sense of what was like to a Navajo code talker, or how difficult the Saipan landing was for the first two days. The only time a message was sent in the history of the Corps, "The situation is in doubt". If you want to see an action movie with good actors, good special effects, this will do.

was a good WW2 war movie but it didn't do what I expected. They only used there code talkers in one scene where they said they were leaving at 0400 in the morning. The other two time they used the code talkers didn't need a code, once to call in arty and one to call in air support. ya don't need a code to call in arty, what are they gona do, move the mountan.
There was a lot of action but I wanted to see more code talker scens. It seemed the movie was about Joe's experiences before the code talkers. It should have been called Joe's life as a Marine and code talkers to.

... my bride and I saw the movie. I agree, lotsa action, maybe a bit too much gore (Gawd, is that a bad word?), and little attention to the detail, not minor, about what the title was all about. Not nearly the impact of "We Were Soldiers," but then I didn't fight in WWII either.
