Congo, UN action.

I have a friend who went to the Congo in 1961. He was airborne. 82nd Airborne 503rd Battlion Companies A,B, & C. He says he was in Company C. I have tried to find about the action on the internet. All the information points to the fact we did send troops over to the Congo in September of 1961? It seems several of our men were either wounded or killed in action. But, I can't find out the names of the units or how long the duration was. Usually I can find out things like that real easy.

Is there anyone capable of helping me. He says that he qualifies for membership in VFW because of overseas action and being underfire overseas.

I am not really familiar with the Congo Action. Is their a site I can read all about it.

I know that we sent Special Forces to the Congo in that time period. I would suggest looking for info on any SF sites. Col Murph is pretty much up on SF history ,you might try PM-ing him. :D :D :cl:
