Hey Gang, I work at the USS Alabama in Operations (www.ussalabama.com) and am currently working on a "display" about shoreline defenses. South of us is Fort Morgan and it was used in WW2 as shoreline defense, but nothing exists. If you, or someone you know, has further info to assist with shoreline defenses please email me! Need help! Thanks

Is the ship on display there now? Do you work on the ship or on the website?

The ship is on display at the head of Mobile Bay. tHE "Lucky A" has been there now since 1964/5. Fort Morgan is 40 miles to the south at the Gulf of Mexico. I work on board the ship in Operations. It is a real treat to work on such a fine battleship and to get lost in the rich history of our Pacific Fleet during WW2.

at Fort Morgan it was Garrisoned by USN and USA. The Navy had the 14th Coastal Artillery, Higgins Boat (1 for pest patrol if need be) and spotters all along the Fort (tower was sub - peri - watch) and down at the forward obsv position at waterr (which is now gone). Army handled security of Fort and had a few stick jockeys at the runway (not sure of the aircraft). AO was guarded by 4 Panama Mounts, various .30's, .50's, 20mm, 40mm and a hidden in the brush 5"er.

I recently did hear about the 14th, but was not aware of the other hardware there. Thanks for the scoop.
