For those who may have been at Khobar Towers...when you first got to KT you had to have noticed the huge "parking lot" / motor pool right next to the water tower (those damn Betowans should have stayed).

After the ground war those of us "stationed?" at KT saw the immaculate transformation from rock hard sand and rocks parking lot to a shopping area that would give Union Station in St. Louis a run for it's money.

Anything and everything you could think of was offered here...bus stop, camel rides, embroidered hats, blue jeansPersain rugs, silver, Saudi culture classes (we've already covered the night sortie's), questionable hamburgers, and Mexican food Middle East style plus so much more.

This HUGE parking lot was loaded. Anybody else remember the Khobar Towers Bizarre?

Then one day the camel vanished and the burger stand had a buy one, get one free day...GO FIGURE.

Doc...welcome back. I was never at Kobar after the war, but friends of mine told many stories!

Hey Doc I broke my tibia just below the knee while at Khobar Towers Jan 22,1993 (a 300# aircraft fire extinguisher fell on my knee after a 747 jet blast knocked it and me over ) were you there during that time period? we may have crossed paths at the Med Clinic. I was in the tower next to the Fence and If I hadn't been evac out, I forget when it got blown up but, I would have been there when it was . Glad we all made it home :ae:

Hey Jerry,
We left KT in September of 1991. The 446th HC took control of the TMC. Total time In Country, November 90-September 91. Headed to the railhead in Miesau Germany after Desert Storm...which I think was where the Army placed the alcoholics.

David,
Hey buddy...were you at KT for the 4th of July? The chemlight fireworks display was awesome. We had a rush on the TMC that night from the head wounds caused by the chemlights bursting in air and flying down from the roof tops. I never got a final tally on the pairs of boots hanging across the comwire.

Catman,
Thanks for the welcome back. After seeing the Air Force way for a week, I am so glad I chose the Army. Rather be a ground pounder than a tarmac trooper any day!!!

No, my sister was mobilized. I decided to head up and spend some time with her to make sure she was good to go and such. She'll be state side at Scott AFB.

Tdeane I don't remember when we left to the exact day but it was before the 4th, must have been sometime in March or April.
