View Full Version : Local TV
OK, I may be conservative in the eyes of some, maybe in the eyes of many but things just went too far. We have a local cable TV station that is supposed to be community based. We can see the City Aldermen and Mayor bicker about all sorts of things, watch high school sports, all of that. The director of the local cable station is a freeze dried hippy about 48 years olds who is as anti-American as they get. (My opinion.)
This last week our ?local access? station began running 4 hours of ?news? per day. It?s put out by a group called Democracy Now. They did a one hour program showing dead women and children at an Air Force, air show, asking kids if they know what the jets were made for. Then there was International hour where we got to hear from French and Syrian news people give their take on the recent war. The French said Bush started the war so US companies could rebuild the country and the Syrian guy said Bush took his orders from Jews, if left un-checked Bush would be ordered to kill all Muslims. Then there was the Women Against War program which was already out dated because they spend an hour talking and singing don't go to war. It ended with an hour of news talking about War Crimes committed by US troops in Iraq.
Why did I watch it, Always know your enemy. Besides, I had to take notes before I go to the next cable commission meeting.
I am a strong supporter of free speech and certainly I could have changed the station. However there are several high school teachers in town who are on the very left fringe. Wouldn?t be surprised if some of them had students watching this crap as a homework assignment. By the way, in the back ground, several times they showed the banner of the American Socialist Worker?s Party.
Do any of you have local cable stations that also show this sort of junk? See, my issue is, if someone from our town wants to book a one hour block of time and talk about how bad the U.S. is, that?s fine, freedom of speech. But when a local station starts running programs that would be left of center in Paris, it?s a bit annoying.

Andy

The stuff that you were describing, although certainly free speech (I suppose), sounds like it originated out of Baghdad Bob and Tariq The Disease's troubled minds!
If the French, Syrians and such, can peddle their tainted wares on "Public Access", then maybe a rebuttal or two is in order - What Do You Think?!
:cd:
After the Red Sox lost yesterday I was pissed already so I put on Channel 5. Free Speech TV had The President of the San Francisco Bus Riders Union on the air. On March 29th she said, "War is bad because people die." WOW, the things you learn on TV! One of the other speakers said people in Iraqi were no more dis-pleased with their leader than Americans are with our leaders.
Then I loaded by pellet gun went out in the back yard and shot a bird. I felt much better and almost forgot about the Sox blowing a 4 run lead.
Doing a one hour rebuttal is already being planned by the VFW, but I'd bet the one hour will be put on at 8 AM not 8 PM.
I was a member of the Cable Committee from '95 to '97, seems the next appointment will have to be another conservative.
Stay healthy,
Andy

I know some ultra right-winged loggers from Northern Idaho who would love to come to your town and demonstrate the proper use of an ax handle!
In Ellensburg the University does some liberal things on their TV Station which the cable TV broadcasts, but the majority of the community is conservative! It just wouldn't happen in Ellensburg, the ranchers and cowboys would invade the campus and show the professors what is meant by hog tying and branding.
This is just plain disgusting and Anti-American. It should be a crime, but then again we would lose freedom of speech if it was.
Andy, cheer for the Mariners it will easier on your blood pressure. :D

I share in your dismay, both over the Red Sox loss (being originally from Fall River), and most of all, over the fact that these rag-attacks are being waged against all that we as a nation stand for!
Granted, we are not perfect, but to supply a soap-box to clearly un-American malcontents such as those whom you described, is the pits! As such, I hope that your rebuttals are numerous and blistering!
Maybe you should consider posting a few of the comments of these fools on line (say general post) etc., and suggest to our bros and bro-ettes that they deluge this channel with their own thoughts about those who enjoy the blessings of liberty, freedom and democracy, and then utilize freedom of speech, not to enact what the feel to be needed change, but rather to tear down and slander!
Someone has to supply the financing $$$$ to these media mutts, and no one footing the tab likes to be lambasted or lose readership or viewers, now do they!
Hell, give me an address, and I'll roast those bums myself!!

You sure you're from Massachussets? I would have expected such anti-American dribble, nonsense and/or manure here in: "The Garden State"(re. New Jersey). After all, given our many gardens, being a Political Machine and/or quite authoritarianly- run/controlled State, and also having a sicko Poet Laureat that would be better received at The University of Havana, Iran or North Korea than here,...I could at least understand our just suffering a little more such dribble here in New Jersey. After all, such would be only a little more of the typical and normal pro most everything foreign and anti most everything American propaganda accustomed to here.
Besides, such nonsense must be harmless. 'Else, why would our controlling Dem/Lib Machine permit such anti-American dribble to continue unabbated,...as usual? Plus, and increasing ones staunch and obedient voter base aside, there's always that chance that if one goes against some foreign, ethnic or racial zealot,...one stands a good chance of being locked-up for a Hate Crime. So then, it's just wise to grin and bear such nonsense, since even the largest of all corporations (re. Government) doesn't treat: "Whistle Blowers" any better better than the smallest of corporations normally do. Also: "You can't fight City Hall".

OK, this is what?s going on. Several people who are communication majors at local colleges have done one hour ?documentaries? for college credits. That I can live with, however they were no doubt spawned by old SDS (remember them) members.
Our local cable committee, at the request of the director, the freeze dried hippie, has subscribed to a non-profit socialist cable network called FSTV (Free Speech TV), HQed out of NYC. There is also a ?sub station? called Democracy Now out of Denver. We can?t un-subscribe for one year, there is a contract. Beware if your local cable committee is interested in this alternative programming. Here?s just a taste of what?s being offered this month on our TV:
New Iraq Isn?t Shaping Up The Way The War Party Wanted
Why America Can?t Rule The World
Anti-War Movement Examines Who?s Next
How And Why America Is Becoming Imperialistic
Euros Boycotting U.S. Goods
Who?s War Is This
Bush-Sharon Axis Of Chaos
How We Lost Our Allies
Sharon Tells Bush To Attack Iran After Iraq
Bush Outlines Empire Doctrine
{There is also a regular program call Gay News which, in and of itself, is no problem. However their take on everything is: America is an up tight Police State.}
There?s a whole lot more but I think you get the idea.
Stay healthy,
Andy

Don't think it would fly here in GA. They just closed all state offices here last week for Confederate Memorial Day. Also they would have to remove part of " Catching Bass with JR
" which would not be well received either

And we we're worried about enemies in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and North Korea? Seems to me, and from what you expose, that we've got more than enough radical and subversive Leftists right here in America to watch and ferret-out,...without even including the many here from The UN.
