U.S. NAVY LOOKING FOR 15 NEW CHAPLAINS
The Rev. Gerald J. Blackburn, director for military ministries for the
Episcopal Church USA, recently shared the following information: The
U.S. Navy has given the Navy Chaplain Corps permission over the next few
months to bring on 15 chaplains age 48 and under to active duty status
(not reserve) providing they are in good physical shape and meet all
other requirements. (Normally age 39 is the cut-off). The Navy Chaplain
Corps Age-waiver Board will meet in December to consider all candidates.
While the church's application and screening processes may not be able
to be completed on such short notice, there is a good chance that
another age waiver board will meet in April 2004. (The age-waiver offer
is NOT for current or former reservists to convert to active duty
status. It is for priests/ministers/pastors who have not served in the
Navy or who have perhaps had prior service.)

Anyone interested should
