Man, I was born in the wrong time frame! I've been doing some reading about Zeppelins and Blimps lately. Sure wish I could have been in the Navy in the 1920's early 1930's.
What a great way to fly!

It'd be "floating" wouldn't it... not exactly flying.
Dunno, never quite saw the military value of those things... probably must BE some :D

No, I don't think so. You float in a balloon or a C-5, air ships are controlled but are subject to the weather.
True the military value these days would be some what limited. Radar, AWACS, Alert a/c, stealth bombers seemingly rule out the need for such things. But when they first were used to bomb Antwerp Belgium, Aug 24 1914, and later England there was a need. When the Graf Zeppelin made it's around the world flight in 1929 there was a need.
