Thought someone here might have info about phone cards or cell phones from Korea. My boy is just out of AIT and on his first deployment. Trying to help with him being able to contact his wife and me. Taking into consideration his pay as PVT. Right now I use AKO email for him. But his wife doesn't have internet or computer.
Any suggestions, ideas, or contacts to use?
Thanks

Willie,
I don't know any companies personaly but you did peak my interest since I work for a communications company and if you do a Google search with "cell phone coverage worldwide" you'll get a lot of hits with companies offering coverage worldwide. Take you time and chose wisely and read the fine print. Good luck to your son on his first deployment.

My son just arrived over there 3 weeks ago. He bought a $20 phone card and it was for 520 minutes. We can put $20 in his account and he can recharge it with the same number.

Phyliss,
Thanks for the info. I am getting the info to him on the cell phone stuff. I feel that is the safest way to go.
I appreciate your response.

Tell your son to check out buying a used cell phone from one of the other soldiers. My son came back from there about a year ago. What they did, was, one would buy a phone there- use it and sell it to someone else when they leave because they can't use those phones here. As to you calling them-as long as you get his telephone number you can use any phone. It's difficult to get used to the time difference. But as you know-it won't matter what time of day they call-it will be heaven to hear his voice. God bless him. Hooah!
