I was taking a photo of our frozen 'Bridal Veil Falls' near Valdez, Alaska for a tourist last month ...
& in centering the photo, I was amazed to see this fast moving, silent 'jet'.
It moved so fast ... There was no jet stream ...
What was this?

Since there's no attached photo, I can only guess that it's a stealth fighter! ;-{)

I would tend to agree with Dan.
Although any plane can fly without leaving a contrail provided the conditions are right. The contrails or "jet stream" as you called it, is left behind when super heated air leaves the tail pipe (Yep, jets have them too) and mixes with very cold moist air leaving behind ice crystals. If the plane is flying at a low altitude on a dry day and the air temps are above freezing then there would not be a contrail left behind.
But again, without a photo it is hard to guess what you saw.
