The following letter of request was published in the online newspaper, www.veteransjournal.net

An Open Request to Senator John F. Kerry

Senator Kerry, you have asked the 26 million U.S. veterans to support your bid for the Presidency of the United States in the upcoming election.

You have voiced strongly your desire to become the Commander-in-Chief, referring either directly or indirectly to your military experience as a qualification of your leadership skills for the most powerful job in the world.

You have argued that because you have served on active duty in a combat role, that you have a distinct advantage should you be called upon to make the decision of putting members of our Armed Forces into harm's way.

During your months of campaigning for the Presidency, you have continuously stood upon your military record while in the presence of scores of veterans.

Like most veterans, you are no doubt proud of your service; as we are proud of ours.

The Veterans Journal suggests that you step down off of those records upon which you stand, and open them up for veterans to see for themselves.

As President Bush has already submitted his military records for review, we respectfully request that you provide complete disclosure of your U.S. Navy Service Records, allowing ample time for public review before October 1, 2004.

The Veterans Journal believes that because you are asking support from that very special category of Americans who have proven their devotion to this Nation by thier selfless sacrifices during their service in the Armed Forces, and insofar as you base that request for support upon your military record, then the honorable action you undertake would be to show those same veterans the records upon which you stand.

There's a $100 bill that's burning a hole in my pocket, repeating the phrase, "Betcha he don't do it!"

As I understand it, even as we speak (?), there are several high-ranking Navy types (retired) that are prepared to release some official unit records dealing with the time period of Kerry's activities in RVN. These records will reveal in greater and obviousily more accurate detail just what the intrepid aquatic fighter actually did. That second $100 bill sez a big difference will emerge.

Several Navy officers who supervised Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry when he commanded a swift boat in Vietnam are preparing to publicly question his war record - including the circumstances under which he was awarded three Purple Hearts - a noted Vietnam War historian revealed this past weekend.

Burkett, whose book, "Stolen Valor," is considered to be the definitive history of of falsified Vietnam War claims, told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg that Kerry's former commanders would allege that the top Democrat's Purple Hearts were awarded for "self-reported injuries that were virtually nonexistent."

Burkett's book was among the first to expose many of the phony claims made by John Kerry about U.S. war atrocities. In "Stolen Valor" Burkett also revealed that Kerry did not discard his war medals, as he claimed in the 1970s

"He never got a day of treatment, he never spent a day in a medical facility," Burkett said, commenting on Kerry's "wounds."

"These were all self-reported wounds, which you're going to hear from some swift boat guys in the future as to the nature of those wounds."

Burkett said he had personally spoken to the Navy commanders who were preparing to go public about Kerry's decorations.

"You're going to get quite a showing [of those speaking out]," Burkett told Malzberg. "I don't know [the number] yet. They're trying to get it to be unanimous of every swift boat guy who ever served."

As to the timetable for the upcoming revelations, Burkett said that Kerry's superior officers "were still discussing that."

"You've got some major rallys being planned against John Kerry by Vietnam veterans on the mall, at the convention - this type of thing," he said. "And we're going to make America aware of John Kerry's military record."

This book is a must read for the presidential election.

What may prove to be very enlightening, if and when the junior senator from Massachusetts ever opens his military file, is just who were the folks that submitted or made recommendations for the awards upon which he stands. That same $100 bill still sez that the main perp is the grandstander hisownself.
