Here is the latest to all friends of the Tam and preservation of Coast Guard History. For the past month, a few volunteers have been salvaging equipment and material from the decommissioned Navy research vessel GOSPORT, in Portsmouth, Virginia. It needs to be transferred to the TAMAROA in Baltimore. If you are near by next week and want to help preserve a legend please come.

THE TRANSFER IS SCHEDULED FOR 6-7-8-9 May

TRANSFER SCHEDULE:

Thursday 6 May Drive rented U-Haul truck from Richmond to Portsmouth. Load U-Haul truck at three (3) locations and returns to Richmond. Load items stored in Richmond. ? 6 people needed

Friday 7 May Drive truck to Baltimore and unload/stow material aboard ship. Finish on Saturday, if necessary. 10 or more people needed. Volunteers will be able to spend Friday/Saturday night on the TAMAROA.

Saturday/Sunday Continue stowing equipment in proper locations on the ship.

4 Inflatable Life Boats ? 300# each
3 Stretchers
4 Foam Fenders ? 200# each
copper tubing and pipe
28 Life Jackets
2 large oxygen bottles
2 Boxes of Blankets
3 small oxygen bottles
10 Mattresses
A Bunch of Fire hose & nozzles
15 Pieces of metal shoring
Signal Light
20 Fire extinguishers
A lot of electrical cable
30 Emergency breathing apparatuses
100 + Hydrographic charts
1 Engine Order Telegraph
7 Rescue Breathing apparatuses
3 Emersion suits
30 boxes miscellaneous stuff
3 Boxes sheets, towels and mattress covers
2000# mooring line
1 lot of scaffolding equipment
Big coffee pot
Several Buckets of paint and coatings
3 Boxes medical supplies

The TAMAROA will have more than 90% of the equipment needed to make her completely operational.
