I'm not really sure, was your first post directed at me? I'd be happy to go off on the American President's sex, and money lives. Interested in Popes or other foreign leaders?
Also be happy to tell you about my own lascivious past. I used to be such a slut!
My point in talking about royals of England was to indicate they do not have a history of setting standards regarding morals. Queen Victoria being an exception. That's the problem, people go back to the Victorian era and forget that which came before.
By the way, I don't only enjoy breaking some windows, I enjoy eating cow. Sacred cow tastes the best!

Stay healthy,
Andy
PS: In the recent elections some folks spent over 30 million dollars to obtain jobs that pay less than $150,000. Perhaps lining pockets would have something to do with being an elected official, in most cases.

Andy said, "Perhaps lining pockets would have something to do with being an elected official..."

Perhaps? Hmmm....... Candidates spend millions of their own money for political positions. I wonder why............

You choose your words well. I salute you. :D

I really couldn't care less about the spoiled brats that constitute the royal family. Who cares? Do they really have any impact on how their country is run? Does Tony Blair report to them or vice-versa, and do his political statements reflect the position of the royals? :md:

I was (and continue to be) insulted by the medias' ass-kissing and fawning coverage of the so-called Royal Family after Dianna's death. Her death was a bad thing, but it's my opinion that for citizens of this country to be repeatedly told that she was "our Princess" was insulting. :d:

For the US -
Let?s get the baggage out!

Who can name the:

Congress men
Senators
Presidents
Judges
Generals

Who have:

Had affairs
Sired/born children out of wedlock
Involved in financial scandal
Betrayed their country
Told lies
Mislead

Also for other countries lets hear the dirt!

MMm I think there will be silence!

JeffL 11-16-2002 03:00 PM

MikeAI, no silence here! :D

All of these people make the same mistakes as the general population. Perhaps a more important question is: Who can name the (your list) who committed perjury as a result of (your list).

The original post was a comment on the Royals and the question - is there a double standard? Being from the UK, no one has to tell you there is a double standard.
Your post seems to ask the question aren't we all guilty of sin and I suppose crime. The answer is, of course, YES! I presumed Hardcore's original post was a comment on the rich and powerful being able to get away with things that most people might not. Certainly, someone only making $100,000 a year could not flaunt many activities that those who are rich and powerful can. (There hasn't been an American president accused of operating under the influence of liquor since Johnson; Andrew Johnson. Now they have limo drivers, if they are drunk or not.) (When he was just a Senator John Kennedy would only take cash contributions, no checks. He also had a bad habbit of being invited to someone's home to talk to a group on politics and stealing their books. No one ever complained or if they did the book was returned without charges. You probably don't have a limo driver and if you stole my books you'd get arrested.)
Another example could have been used but there was no intent to insult you of anyone from your country, except maybe the Royals. Other than tradition, do they serve any purpose? The divine right of the king (or queen) does seem a bit dated.

Well I'll bite..:D
I am from Canada. I do not live across the pond in Britian.

QEII is my Queen and the Queen of my country. Britian won that in the war against France a zillion years ago. Otherwise I would be speaking French. :D
Unfortunately, Prince Charles may be my next King unless he gets smart and passes it on to Prince William.
However, Chuckie aside.....

I do believe in the Monarchy and all its foibles.

There hasn't been a time in history that any country is without shame or scandel.
But still, the British Monarchy has been around forever it seems and to me, a Canadian, it is the one thing that has continuity in my life! Since 911, my way of life and that of my children has changed forever.
The Monarchy was there before I was born. The Monarchy was there in my youth. The Monarchy is there now in these troubled times. The Monarchy will be there in my senior years. They Monarchy will be there long after I pass on.
Continuity.
I like that.. it gives me great comfort.

I can see no institution in Canada that even comes close.

Politicians here have no morals in serving their constituents. Some in the British Monarchy may have no morals but they unfailing do serve their Commonwealth people. As they will no doubt continue to do so.

Just my nickels worth!

SEATJERKER 11-20-2002 11:42 AM

OK...

..you're not guilty, but you didn't deny being knowledgeable on the subject...

...But seriously, you can always tell who is from the North of the border cause one second you see a speck behind you in your rear view mirror, and the second there going by you like your crawling even though, you, yourself is doing 10 to16 miles over the limit at 65 which = 75 to 81, and the next time you see them is 5 minutes down the road, only to be in the midst of a couple of red lights.......
...I go to Montreal ever once in a while, and cannot express how nice the city is, cleanest city in the world I think...

...send Molson, triple XXX please, what is the limit now, one case over the border???

Andy 11-20-2002 12:28 PM

Hey Dude

Jerker: how long did you say it took to get to my house? Did you really drive at 64MPH??? The way you tell it I've been a Canadian all my life and didn't know it.

Sue: if you like the fact there is a monarch, then I say, God Save The Queen! Monarch is an interesting word, like so many it is Latin and entered our language thru the French.

Stay healthy,
Andy
