Thanks everyone. My poser radar went off right away with the first email he sent but I was more concerned with setting him straight about what I wrote concerning the USMC and Op Apache Snow then worrying if he was the real deal. Then he sent the email I posted and thought I?d run it by you guys an it looks like the verdict is unanimous. Now I?m gonna have some fun with him.

I did some cecking and on the 506th Association site he has some pictures and it looks like he was in fact with Recon 1/506 and in one of the pics he has jump wings on his fatuges and bonnie hat but what I didn't see was a SF tab above his airborne tab for the 101st patch. I?m thinking that anyone who was with the SF would have that tab also. If in fact his story is true about taking the unauthorized leave like he said and being shipped to Nam with the 101st would he have been booted out of SF and loose the right to wear the SF tab?

Probably not, according to the posts by Sid et al. The other thing is that SF didn't take 19 year olds. Who knows but Sid has some interesting questions in his last answer that you should ax him. Even real grunts embelish....but if he was Airborne and in Recon, why would he need to. Still smells a little fishy....and are you sure they are pics of him?

Pack, Not knowing him personaly, no I'm not sure the pics are of him and I guess there's no real way to check. He did mention another guy in one of his emails. I'll check and see if he is a member of the 506th Association and email him about my bro who transfered out of my company and into Recon and in passing mention this guy.
