16" of snow predicted for tomorrow and Wed. Dipping down to a balmy 3 for thursday though. I guess we're due. It's been a good summer.
|
They're calling for about a foot or so here. Looks Like I get my wish to do some cross-country skiiing in this week and weekend.
Getting them waxed tonight and have a brand new pair of boots I got for my birthday last year and never got to wear because we had no snow after Christmas. |
Ayah! Nor'eastah headin' ouwah way t'night. Might get 12 inches o' moah!
|
Saw on the news on TV about the cold back east. Man I'm glad I don't live in NYC anymore. It is in the 60's here in Elk Grove, CA, just a little cloudy though.

Oh, I forgot to mention that's it's been warm today, just a hair below the freezing mark! |
It's really blowing now. Gust to 35 to 40 mph. Tonight dropping to -2 again with this wind chill check QM 's chart. Got 6" more snow so far. Calling for snow all day today and tomorrow.
Now that outfit in New York getting 12' of snow would be the nut buster of all time for me - I think that would put me over the edge. Shoveling your drive is one thing but to shovel your roof now I'm not a happy camper. |
Update on the weather...now the prediction is 20-30". It went from a winter storm warning to a heavy snow warning. Snowplow's ready and the hour drive to work is cancelled for tomorrow.
HEAVY SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST WEDNESDAY... A HEAVY SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST WEDNESDAY. SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD NORTHEAST OVER THE AREA THIS EVENING...REACHING PENN YAN AND BINGHAMTON BETWEEN 5 AND 7 PM, AND SYRACUSE AND UTICA BETWEEN 9 PM AND MIDNIGHT. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY...BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WEDNESDAY EVENING. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM AROUND A FOOT IN THE CENTRAL SOUTHERN TIER OF NEW YORK AND IN BRADFORD COUNTY IN PENNSYLVANIA, TO AROUND 6 INCHES IN THE WESTERN MOHAWK VALLEY OF NEW YORK. ADDITIONAL HEAVY SNOW ON WEDNESDAY WILL RESULT IN TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 20 TO 30 INCHES BY WEDNESDAY EVENING. IN ADDITION...GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...CAUSING AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND POOR VISIBILITY. Covan, Hows the snow there? Boats, Never seen 8-10' of snow. Pics only. I think the tunneling to your car would be the icing on the cake. The most I can recall here is 36" in 9 hours two Christmas' ago. The attitude around here was "nah we're not gonna get it"...WHAM! We got it. |
Yeah heard on the news that New York is expecting over 110 inches of snow this year, man this 6 and 1/2 feet of snow, I guess that is either up state or the entire state.

Carl is an (HS-15) AW1 Shipmate of mine, here's what he had to say at the Indy chat site: "Thans for the concern. On the western end of the state Buffalo itself has not been hit too badly. South of town in the Lake Erie "snow belt" they have had alot more. I could have used some of that white stuff during deer season. Now over to the eastern end of the state, in Lake Ontarios "snow belt" they have had some record amounts of snow. The difference being is Lake Ontario never freezes, allowing the air to pick up more water to dump as snow. When Lake Erie partially ices over, it reduces the snow on this end. I think there is still some open water on Erie. So theres still alot of Winter left and we still could get hit." So it's all depends on where you hang your rabbit skin hat. We've only had a few inches here in the HUDSON VALLEY, (just above the WEST POINT area.) |
no big deal,...
...
...we're looking @ 18- 24" tonight through tomorrow,... ...So,........................ ...no big deal,... ... |
