Pet Pictures

Can we lighten things up a little around here? Surely some of you have some favorite pictures of your pets - and perhaps, of other animals.

This is Sara, our Chocolate Lab. Sara would rather chase and retrieve a ball than eat. And she is also afraid of the water.

I have a minature Golden Lab with curly fur.

Minature apricot poodle.
He has the same personality as a Golden Retriever or Lab.

Throw the ball, hurry Throw ball.
Throw the stick, hurry throw the stick.

Let me out the door there are birds in the backyard I must
protect the family from an envasion of birds. Open the door and
let me chase them birds. All twenty pounds. All he wants to do
in life is chase and retrieve. He Always has a ball in his mouth. I
tell people we make him carry a ball so he won't bite anyone.

Cats

Sorry, hope this doesn't start a war with the cat haters. Not my cat, not my house, but a cute picture anyway.

This is a great card for all you dog lovers out there! Merry Christmas, poochies!!!

Beautiful card Jane. Snow Tiger is the only cat you would get out in this weather. Dogs are still mans' best friend.

Junior, Bubba and Rocky

I posted their picture with Santa under Christmas 2002

JeffL 12-13-2002 07:48 AM

I saw the photo, PHO127. Printed it, made the mistake of showing it to my wife, now I'm getting rations of excrement from her about taking our dogs to their vet's Santa visit this weekend.

Thanks a lot! :p

This is Emmy, our resident mixed-breed (Lab + something(s)). Emmy will jump into any water, including drainage ditches and scum-covered ponds.

And this was Nikki (1984 - 1994), a Samoyed-Golden Retreiver mix. Nikki was what we called mildly active; he once never laid down for the entire 550 mile, 10-hour drive from here to Buffalo.

He'd pose with shades and a cap for as many pictures as we wanted to take. He'd really turn heads at the beach when he sported the shades and cap! :D

That Nikki sure was a sharp dresser!

...Not a pet but had thisGreatHorned Owlvisit us a while back.

Came home one day and looked out the patio door and there it was.

It was two months old and ornery as hell. Had almost a 3 foot wing span at that age. Check out the claws in the chair pix.

The feds got involved 'cause it's on the endangered list. They came out and looked at it and said to leave it alone. I DID afterthose claws went through a pair of leather gloves. It stayed around for about 4 dayswhile either moma or papa circled and watched.

It was a beautiful thing to see up close, .....felt like a privledge to be that near to it.

Wait for the entire screen to load up with all 4 horses & a fence in
front of them -- Then, click on each horse. Re-click on any horse to make it turn off, or turn it back on again.
Somebody did some real wizardry of programming to coordinate this?

I noticed they are of different colors and still seem to be in harmony. hmmm

Now,

I like cats and this one is ... distinctive. Excuse my while I check on my garlic supply and sharpen up a chop-stick.

To Jeffl- I Love Emmy's eyes. Isn't funny how dogs have such soul to them? I have a black lab mix. His name is Fred. I swear he knows exactly what I'm talking about. We even have to spell things around him. What a character.

Nang, you got that right. Your dog's eyes show you their unconditional love for you.

Bern, my wife and both think Woody is cool! :p

Now, then, here's our two brain-deprived souls with Santa today. It's not really a good picture, but the proceeds went to the humane society.

My gal Chelsey. (not named after any presidential offspring)

She pretty much runs things around the homestead.

This is my pet mouse, Melvin 901. I rescued him from work one day, he was slated for a NASA test. He is the only mouse that has been able to outsmart and survive Jack and Einstein.

Australian Sheppard.

THE BEST DOG IN THE WORLD! Smarter than your average bear, loyal, friendly, well-trained (trained herself... only had to show her how to sit once!), stays home even though all the neighborhood dogs run, trees all the parents cats just because it makes me laugh. Plus it's a damn good-lookin' dog!

You guys can all assosicate with this one.... She's OLD! I litterally grew up with this dog... got her in 2nd grade and she's almost 20 years old now! This picture was last summer... she's not looking so good now... can't see, can't hear, can't smell, can't feel you touch her... until she starts running around, then she gets young again. But - she still seems happy, so I'll leave the .243 alone for awhile!

kenmar 12-16-2002 08:35 AM

Brad, your Abbey sure is winner, you can just see the devil in her eyes...ready for any kind of an adventure.

Bernadette 12-16-2002 08:58 AM

the brad - Our dog Woody's brothers all looked like your Aussie shep. Woody has about 6 inches of mearling on his front paws the only indication he has any Aussie......So glad the got the brains of those Aussie's - damb smart!

Kenmar we love your horse's singing!

Animals are so great!!!

thebrad 12-16-2002 09:05 AM

The last dog we had was a german shorthair - also a smart dog - but hunting dogs don't make half the companion that working dogs do.

Kenmar - the devil may be in her eyes, but she's a coward. One day I showed up at my parent's in a friends car I borrowed - no one was home. I could barely see the dog peeking at what she thought was a stranger from behind the deck. I was going to sit there and see how long it would take her to investigate... gave up! I don't think she ever would have. But you don't need a watch-dog in the country, right? That is, if you ignore the string of houses getting robbed and the double-homicide two miles off within the last couple of years!

I guess they are truly man's best friend. But it looks like the cat is the smart one.

From behind the deck, Abbey thinks to herself: " We'll just see WHO...can out waitWHO !!!"

thebrad 12-16-2002 10:02 AM

maybe you're right - I do claim she is a genius and has a sense of humor! I suppose she wins.

I've been building up as much karma as possible so when I'm reincarnated I can request to be a dog. I'll prob. end up some stupid toy dog though!

Smokey

1 Attachment(s)
I admit it... cats are okay too. This one is my buddy. Mostly because he acts more like a dog. By the way: I didn't name him... I'm not allowed to name cats at my parents joint even since mom found out what Muff's name really meant! Notice Smokey is in a tree... right where Abbey left him! Apparently all the animals here have the devil in their eyes.

I had a blue tick once with the same face and earsas buster. Wonderful dog. He made friends with the whole neighborhood, and would visit from house to house each day.

Re the distinctive cat:

I was actually thinking of wearing the garlic and spearing the little furball through the heart.
