My Father

I found this site while surfing. I am writing to find out if anyone on this site remembers coming in contact with my father. I have been searching for any information or anyone who has ever had the opprotunitity to meet my father. He was a USN AO1 attached to the Seawolf unit at Binh thuy. He was KIA on June 1 1970. If you knew him or his unit and would like to enlighten me in any way good or bad. My information about his time in country is very sketchy. I know that he had served as a door gunner/crew chief for the Seawolves on Det 3 and Det 7 plus time at Binh Thuy.

thank you and please feel free to discuss anything you know about him or his unit.

Hi.
You said your father"attached to the Seawolf unit at Binh thuy"
I can't find a referance to Binh thuy, Viet Nam was made up of many provinces (States -sort of) There is a Binh Thuan and a Binh Tuy provines. Thes are both located east of Saigon on the ocean.
Around the time you are talking about The SEALORDS were conducting operations from the Gulf of Siam to Cambodia. These operations would have posibly used the seawolf. They were conducted by U.S. Ninth infantry division (riverine forces) and south Vietanmese ground forces.
Sorry for your loss.
Ron

Bill ...

First I would like to say I am very sorry for your loss. Your father did not die in vain. His brothers in arms on this site are a testament to that. I do not know much about the Navy side of things. I do know that the US Army has many excellent Associations for their Division, Battalion and Regimental size units. I am sure the Navy does also. Use the search engine "Google" and I am sure you will find a group of folks on the internet who were in your father's unit and chances are very good you will find someone who knew him. I wished I had pursued this quest before my father passed away in 1986 to contact his fellow soldiers from WW2. Good Luck !

This quest for finding out about my Father has led me to alot of places on the web. I found his units site in november. They have been alot of help and information. But when I stumbled on this site yesterday I was very impressed by the people who were here. I feel that the more I find out the better chance I have of maybe connecting with that one person or persons that my Father may have touched in some way. This site is one of the best I have seen or visited. So far the people here have been very warm in a very impersonal world. I realize that the site seems to be oriented towards ground based troops. But like I said you never know who you can meet until you try.
The Seawolfs site is www.seawolf.org. Surf on over sometime and look around. Just like I cruised to your wonderful site. And you like I may find somebody you remember.
