Do Not Vote For List

Press Release Veterans' Voting Bloc

Veterans' Voting Bloc Adds 6 More To It's "Do Not Vote" List

By: Mike Bowman

The Bipartisan Veterans group, who's primary mission is to vote out all
elected officials, regardless of party who do not support specific Veterans
issues have added 6 more to their "Do Not Vote For" list: Senators Don
Nickles of Oklahoma, Pete Domenici of New Mexico, Diane Feinstein of
California, Sheila Jackson Lee and Lamar Smith of Texas, and President
George W. Bush.
"Senators Nickles and Domenici have a poor record on Veterans issues.
Senator Feinstein along with Congresspersons Lee and Smith have refused to
sign our pledge to support specific Veterans issues" according to Attorney
Phillip Jones, National Director of the VVB. He goes on to say "President
George W. Bush has not lived up to his campaign pledge to honor the promise
of no-cost medical benefits for Retired Uniformed Services Personnel and
threatens to Veto legislation that provides for Concurrent receipt." Both
issues are earned benefits promised to veterans.
Veterans have seen their earned medical care benefits erode over several
years. President Bush promised to honor the promises made concerning free
medical care to career Veterans as one of his campaign issues. That, with
other promised issues to Veterans gained their votes in a very close
election. A loss of the Veteran vote in the next Presidential election would
pose a serious problem for Mr. Bush.
Concurrent receipt would restore the career Veteran with his/hers earned
retirement. Under current law, Retired Disabled Veterans must forfeit dollar
for dollar their retirement pay in order to receive VA disability pay. The
two are different as Retired Pay is paid for years of service. Disability
pay is for injuries or diseases incurred during service to our nation. The
Retired, Disabled Veteran is singled out as the only federal employee this
applies to.
The Veterans Voting Bloc will remove the "Do Not Vote For" status if and
when a candidate(s) makes a pledge to support specific Veterans issues and
then follow through with actions. VVB members have already made their pledge
to vote out any candidate, regardless of party that refuse to sign the
pledge.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to you, but not all veterans are or will be in lock-step with your voting boycott call. Some have a much different paradigm than just a "one-trick-pony" view of the world.:)

Well I'll be hornswaggled if'n

I sure as hell AM one vet who IS "in lock-step" with you my friend.

It's the ones who AREN'T that are REALLY dangerous and menacing to veterans E-A-R-N-E-D benefits and rights that SHOULD be helping rather than keeping their freakin heads in the SAND and IGNORING the TRUTH about some of these folks you've mentioned----republican OR democrat!

Thanks for your efforts!

xgrunt 07-08-2002 08:53 AM

On the contrary Super Scout

you do follow a "one Trick pony" paradigim[sp]. and that is It's all the LIBERALS fault. That's your mantra and the one you repeat over and over.

Gimpy 07-08-2002 05:54 PM

GRUNT!

I love you brother!

An honest AND observant man!

Welcome Home!!

I too am walking in "lock-step" with you!!

I am happy to see that there are people who are actually doing something for a change....and I am in full support of them. Unfortunately there will always be those who either are afraid to support a common goal....or refuse to help achieve any positive in this world....because they find it easier to be "naysayers".

If we can get enough impetus behind our goals.....we can achieve much!!

judyvillecco 08-19-2002 10:09 PM

Well I'll be liberal because I'm in lockstep too!

Don't congressman get retirement pay and a health care plan at places like Bethesda Hospital? I think so!
Elected officials do listen and do read information from voting blocs, after all, they do like their job or they would'nt spend million's to get elected. I am 100% in agreement with knowing what you get when you elect some ambitious politician. I am also 100% in favor of dumping the politicians who loose site of who elected them after they are wined and dined by the lobbyist etc.

Update From National Director, Veterans' Voting Bloc

For the lack of action on Concurrent Receipt, the USFSPA, the attempt to deny new VA claims and health care for under 65 retired military personnel we will be voting against most incumbants. The only exceptions are those who signed our pledge plus: Shows, Bilakaris, Taylor, Evans and Reid. If anyone knows of any compelling reason to exempt other incumbants please let me know before the 19th.
