Macron's submarine spat is a reminder of why Australia ought to be getting closer to France, not alienating it

I'm not sure about all the facts posted by the French but I sense something odd about the comments and their relationship with China. On this post there are three more links also about the French & Australia dealings. And two more of which they feel they were runover by the US and their relationship with Australia has been somewhat tarnished - by their purchasing US subs in lieu of the French. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note: The French always seemed odd to me and their demeanor. They say one thing and yet it seems they China relations are questionable. They are part of NATO but will not war against China should it come to that. - I can't say whether it was double dealing or that Australia wanted a more efficient and reliable Submarine that American has already proven itself in this category. - I think Australia's Navy Officials had some input as to French vr's USA reliability and experience had much to do with it. - They are of NATO but support China in many ways. This is odd. - Last comment: I've got nothing personal against the French as my Mother's - Mother - was a Frenchwoman (Marie Bloom) My blood line is: French - Swedish - & Italian - but born in the USA did two tours to Nam - served 12 years and would've done 20 but my wife to be said I'm not waiting another 8 years! So be - I got out and married her - and still married to her. She's 100% Italian - you haven't lived until you've married and full blooded Italian woman - whew its tough - but she's kept me in line and gave me two daughters. |
