U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced on Friday that NATO member countries that are seeking exemptions from U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs might be asked to step up their contributions to the organization.

President Trump has long sought to get NATO allies to spend at least 2 percent of their GDP on defense.

But how close are NATO members to that 2 percent threshold? Use the arrows in the chart below to scroll through the years:

Note: On the site link there is a NATO chart showing Member Contributions from 2010-2017: It seems the US has pumped alot of money into NATO than any other country(s).
