Phaedra Jessen, an oceanographer with Fleet Numerical Meteorological and Oceanographic Center (FNMOC), demonstrates a sensor buoy with visitors to the University of Nevada - Reno's Fleischmann Planetarium. FNMOC is one of the many units in Reno for Reno Navy Week. Navy Week programs serve as the U.S. Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the country that lack a significant Navy presence, helping Americans understand that their Navy is deployed around the world, around the clock, ready to defend America at all times.
