Bad News On The Door Step---Again!

I couldn't take one more step!....................Literally!

That's from Don McLeans song----American Pie ..... for those who don't know. One of my all time favorite songs.

And, it's seems fairly appropiate for me these days.

Just received diagnosis from my "team" of VA physicians today that I won't be doing much "walking" very much anymore because my hip replacement (14 years old) is falling apart as we speak. Well, actually it's the femur (what's left off it) that appears to be deterriorating to the point that I need a bone graft AND a new hip replacement.

Under normal conditions, that would be no problem. But, not in MY case.

Since my stage 3 kidney disease is worsening and due to my current heart condition, it appears I will NOT be a "candidate" for any such severe surgery as a hip replacement. So there's the dilemma. This "old" body is a-bout worn out and I it just won't be able to withstand a 6 to 8 hour surgery!

Oh well...........Don't mean nuthin!

The VA gave me a "manual" wheel chair a couple of weeks ago because I could not walk more than a few feet without it becoming so bad I had to stop and sit down. They have me scheduled for a "consult" for a power chair week after next. I am going to ask for a super-charged, fuel-injected model!

I'll Be the FASTEST sumbitch in the HOOD!

Wish me luck!

Good news now!

Hallelujah!---Finally got my brand-spanking new Quantum 600 power wheel chair from the Veterans administration today. This sucka is something else! Bucket seat, Mag wheels, super-charged, cane holder, deluxe cup holder, custom paint job and many other "extras" that most power chairs don't have.

Watch out, here I come!

"Fireball" Gimp
