Supreme leader Khamenei offers military protection for activists. Iran would be willing to send its Revolutionary Guard members to accompany further aid ships to Gaza, Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday in an interview cited by Reuters.

"The naval wing of the Revolutionary Guard is ready to assist the peace flotilla to Gaza with all its effort and capabilities," Khamenei's Revolutionary Guard spokesman Ali Shirazi stated.



"If the Supreme Leader issues an order for this then the Revolutionary Guard naval forces will do their best to secure the ships," Shirazi said. "It is Iran's duty to defend the innocent people of Gaza."


Last week, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad termed the IDF raid on the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara as "barbaric" and called for dismantling of “the Zionist regime.”

Ahmadinejad was speaking to a crowd of tens of thousands, many of them chanting anti-Israeli slogans, gathered at the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini for a ceremony marking the 21st anniversary of his death.

Report: Iran to send ships to Gaza By JPOST.COM STAFF

Iranian Red Crescent planning two aid ships this week. The Iranian Red Crescent announced on Monday that it will be sending two ships to Gaza this week.

AFP quoted the Red Crescent director for international affairs Abdolrauf Adibzadeh as saying: "One ship will carry donations made by the people and the other will carry relief workers. The ships will be sent to Gaza by end of this week."

The decision to send aid ships follows earlier announcements by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that Revolutionary Guards could be sent to protect ships sailing for Gaza.

In 2009 Iran sent an aid ship which was intercepted and denied access to Gaza; a Lebanese ship was also stopped, although blood donations it was carrying were transferred to Gaza.

Why are these Muslim asshats trying to provoke a war by running a blockade that can be easily avoided by landing the "humanitarian supplies" in another country and trucking them to Gaza?

My money is on the sinking of any Irani warship escorting any 'relief' effort designed to break the blockade. All one has to do is remember the sad incident of the USS Liberty as to the firepower that the Israelis can bring on a surface vessel. My guess is that Achminijabba is all hat and no cows.
