I remember...

I can never Forget...
As a 10 year old I stood on the tarmac at Clark AFB and watched as the POWs got off the plane and on to the bus. At the time I knew they were special but didn't get the full impact until years later. I have since made it point to thank veterans for their service it whatever way I can. Every year for the last 6 or so years I've gone to Washington DC for Rolling Thunder. For some it is a large motorcycle ride. For me it is a reminder of those who gave their life and those whose life has been forgotten, not just in Vietnam but in all of the Military campaigns. We as free people owe our existence to those who have gone before.. And so While I live, there will be one who remembers.

I was a little kid when most of the Vietnam vets were coming back...but my mom or dad would always stop for the guys sitting along the road with a sign with a flag to give them a ride.
One of these guys I'll never forget..he was wearing his green jacket..had a cardboard sign and was just trying to get home to his family. We lived in San Jose..he was trying to make his way to Sacramento. My mother said she'd take him the whole way. He cried. I hugged him and told him welcome home.
Him and all the rest I wont ever forget myself..and I am teaching my own children the respect and gratitude they should have for those men and all the other men that gave so much for their freedom. I hope they learn that lesson.

We will never forget. I am to young to have seen the vets come home but I always have time to set and listen to and thank a vet for his service and sacrifice. My wife and I have even adopted two soliders who are missing in action in Vietnam. God Bless the soliders.
