Two men have been convicted of beating and robbing their neighbor, a 58-year-old disabled veteran, in his Long Branch apartment more than two years ago, authorities said.

The veteran spent several weeks in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

A jury on Friday found twin brothers James Dotts and Jason Dotts, 41, guilty of second-degree aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit robbery and theft, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

Both men have extensive criminal records and face up to 20 years in prison when they are sentenced May 31. Their trial lasted three weeks.

The Dotts brothers and a third man entered the apartment at about 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2016 officials said. The trio beat him until he was bloody and unconscious, leaving with his cash and cell phone.

The third man previously pleaded guilty to theft, officials said.

James Dotts has prior convictions for conspiracy, aggravated assault and drug possession, according to public records. Jason Dotts has been convicted of conspiracy and burglary.

Personal note: I'm disgusted reading about this and its not the first time a disabled Vet has been attacked. I'd send them to GITMO and let the MP's down there work them over.
This crap really pisses me off to no end. My heart goes out to that VET and others's who've mistreated and I wish the God I could have been there to help him out or at least others should have as well.
Speedy recovery my friend and I'm sorry you had to go through this nightmare.
