Aircraft Carrier Move Shows Biden’s Real China Policy

Your editorial “The Missing Aircraft Carrier” (May 27) presumes that the USS Ronald Reagan is truly going to the Middle East to cover the withdrawal from Afghanistan. An alternative view is that the carrier is being deployed to stabilize the Middle East so that President Biden has cover to do a deal with Iran. Of course, this redeployment leaves Taiwan exposed. The question is whether the U.S. Navy will deploy a carrier from San Diego to cover the Western Pacific in the USS Ronald Reagan’s absence. Whether the Navy covers its Western Pacific flank will tell us everything we need to know about President Biden’s China policy.
