Just caught myself lining up my gig line in the mens room mirror !

Confession is good for the soul, and as your cyber-confessor, I must say I'm proud of you!! Ya done good, warrior, and showing the REMF's that we can still be neat and tidy while being real men is reason enough! And at least you had presence of mind to use the men's room, and not the other one!!! :D

Two officers and a minister, maybe you can help. How do I line up my gig line wearing a t-shirt? And is there a proper way to lace up my velco sneakers?

Indeed, it sounds like the blind leading the foolish, but for the life of me, I can't figure out which is whom!!! Gig lines and T-shirts?? Any shorts with that, or you just out to scare the little girls????? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;)

Ain`t no gig line to be found on my sweats,either.Hell,Ican have em on back-ass-wards and never even catch flack..

The gig line was a line including the edge of the shirt where the button holes were, the edge of the belt buckle next to the right side and the line of the fly on the trousers. It was MANDANTORY that all three items were absolutely in perfect alignment at all times. I used a thumbtack with a clutch off of a collar brass to keep it all together. Turk


From Norman Brown, 1st Group, Opns & Training Officer: The gig line was held in place by breaking a piece of collar brass in two and using one piece to anchor the shirt to the trousers so the gig line would not work out of alignment as we marched.

At first, I tried to tie my shirt tails between my legs (problems ensued when bending down). Then I tried hooking the edge of my shirt to the fly flap on the inner side (wouldn't stay put). Finally (not knowing the thumb tack/clutch trick), I just gave up and kept a wary eye on the NCOs so as to glance down quickly and make a fast adjustment as they appraoched (didn't work too well when they came at a man from the rear, which they enjoyed doing.)

Basically, I got a few gigs.

Yep, when I get dressed in my "Sunday-go-ta-meetin'" clothes, I always check the gig line.
