Bush in May 2018. According to a report by Military.com, citing Agence France Presse, warplanes from the two countries are training together while France’s only aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, is in for a major refit. In the video, a French commander identified only as “Mark” for security reasons, says that pilots from the two countries practice together “to improve interoperability for years to come.” Since April 3 of this year, 27 French fighter pilots and a number of sailors have taken up residence on or around a base on the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, about 200 miles (320 kilometers) south of Washington. French crews first conducted land-based training, and as of May 8 further exercises aboard the USS George H.W. Bush are taking place. |
