POTUS not attending Arlington
Instead, he and family will arrive at Chicago for the weekend this evening, Thursday, 27 May 2010.
Could he not have sent the family ahead, and had the decency to lay a wreath? VP Biden & wife will do the honors this year. I'm very disappointed in the President.:d: |
Since that's the case
then you REALLY must be pi$$ed-off at Ronnie Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and his son GW Bush......huh???
Because.................as a friend of mine pointed out on another web site------- According to Snopes.com: ".....In 2002, President George W Bush was in France on Memorial Day and participated in ceremonies in Normandy......Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier..... President George H W Bush (himself a WWII veteran) attended no ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery during hs four years in office....... President Ronald Reagan was away from Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day on four occasions during his eight years on office...... On Memorial Day 2010, President Barak Obama is scheduled to honor America's fallen heroes with a speech at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Chicago, while Vice President Joe Biden takes his place at Arlington....." http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/memorialday.asp So either your contempt for Obama blowing off Memorial day is, sadly, misplaced..... or your obvious bias is overwhelming to the point of being somwhat ridiculous. Which is it? Gimp BTW----------Bill Clinton attended ALL 8 of the Memorial Day Services at Arlington during his Presidency, were you aware of THAT also?----Just asking. |
cross-country contingency operations
Never had any doubt about Ronnie, GHWB, Dubya or even Clinton - at least Willy knew to salute from day one and was public about his deferrment(s). He didn't inhale or perjure himself about having sex in his workplace 22 times with a subordinate female - but that's a different conversation.
Mr. Obama had to be taught - he preferred a hand shake. Since you're friendly with our President, Gimpy - why not suggest to him that he's on thin ice about his devotion to American traditions at the moment, so this is not going to have been a good time to choose Chicago over Arlington... you know what I mean - for example today we learn that he and Brennan have decided that Jihad is not to be included in official dialogue describing GWOT (oh, I'm sorry, OCO) since Jihad is a "legitimate religious practice." BTW, the reason Dubya missed a wreath is that he was representing America at a WWII commemoration. Obama, on the other hand, is, basically, taking his wife and kids back home for a spell. |
Your eyesight must be failing you.

Or, once again, is your "bias" clouding that also. From the "post" above............."On Memorial Day 2010, President Barak Obama is scheduled to honor America's fallen heroes with a speech at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Chicago,"........... But, it seem it was "OK" for Dubya to celebrate Memorial Day at another "official" function, but apparently NOT Obama, huh? Your prejudicial "slip" is showing once again Mr. Hawk................for ALL to see! Have a nice Memorial Day. Gimp |
So. B.O. won't be at Arlington? Wonderful!! At least the living who will be observing a reverent attitude there won't be bored to death by his long-winded reading off the TelePrompter of the United States. As far as I'm concerned, he can keep his pompous ass in Chicago for weeks, for all the good he's going in DC.

Heck Gimpness... if I have ever carefully developed a prejudice, mentioning it wouldn't be a "slip."
But, there's a world of difference between a President representing America in France during a memorial service of all WWII allies, and a guy who does his obligatory bit just up the road from wifey and the kiddlings. Eh? Gotta say though, in his 18 months he's gotten that Marine One salute sharpened up nicely - wish he'd glance over at the troop once in awhile. |
Why
can't you just admit that bad "taste" of shoe leather you now must have is terribly profound since your supposed "mark" of a Presidents' patriotism has been shown to exhibit itself MORE from those of a Republican "conservative" nature than those of a Democratic "Liberal" nature? Facts of historical "attendence" at Arlington on Memorial Day prove this. (Your "measurement" tool, you started this thread, right?)
And, yes I was very proud of G.W. Bush for his participtation in the celebration at Normandy. Just as I am also proud of Obamas' presence at the National Cemetary for Memorial Day observances' in Chicago on Monday. But---------------again---------------YOUR "point" to show your anger :d: and disappointment in Obama for NOT attending at Arlington and "laying a wreath" should SURELY be just as profound and obviously :d: towards the Presidents from that "other" side of the political aisle? Ya s'ppose? Just asking. You ARE the one who first offered this as a "topic" for your apparent "scorn", right? Simon says......... you may now remove that foot from your mouth! Have a great day, Gimp |
I guess after his last vacation he needs another vacation must be hard if you have to have 2 within 30 days. I am truly disapointed that he chose to blow off the wreath laying. he is a sorry excuse for a president.

The double standard here is absurd and disgusting.
Lets face it. Most of the past few and the present president have blown off many of things. Not just Obama but Bush II as well as others from both major parties. |
