Daily Point of Light Award

President Bush created the Daily Point of Light Award in 1989 to recognize ordinary Americans from all walks of life taking direct and consequential voluntary action in their communities to solve serious social problems. The President focused great attention on these individuals and organizations, both to honor them for their tremendous work and to call the nation to join them and multiply their efforts. By the end of his administration, President Bush had recognized 1,020 Daily Points of Light representing all 50 states and addressing issues ranging from care for infants and teenagers with AIDS to adult illiteracy and from gang violence to job training for the homeless.[142] The Daily Point of Light continues to be awarded by Points of Light and President Bush continues to sign all of the awards.[148]

Dear President Trump;

The death of President George Herbert Walker Bush yesterday was tragic indeed, but then, a good man has to be remembered for his deeds, as all men, all the way back to George Washington Himself (and before) eventually succumb to the passing of time! It is, after all, not how we die that really counts, but rather, how we lived, and President Bush did indeed live!

I had the privilege of knowing Lee and Ginny Nadeau of Ramona for some years, and although we did not agree on all things, I did learn that there is a spark of greatness in many Americans that is, unfortunately, known but to The Almighty Himself! Lee Nadeau, if you can recall, was the turret gunner for George Bush during World War II, a conflagration that saw many within our own family (my wife Brenda and I) embroiled! Unfortunately again, however, many a national hero is now known but to “God Himself!” For as it is in most wars and even life itself, heroes are also quickly relegated to the pages of history and legend alone and such now is also the case as it concerns “President George Herbert Walker Bush!”

“But truly great men never really die”, they rather become an integral part of our illustrious history – and illustrious it has been, and will continue to be! So weep thee not upon the passage of the good and the worthy - rather sob ye for those who had the capability for greatness, but rather, opted instead for mediocrity and but a place in the quickly fleeting roles of the ages!

I do believe military presidents understand much more than non-military leaders as they know that any conflict results in human losses. Countries like to call our bluff more so than non-military leaders. If you're to commit our men and women be ready to back them up and give them enough support to make a quick end to their aggression. Bush knew that and Kuwait was over in six months. Cut off the head and the body dies.

No one likes wars! But if you're going to get us into one - you'd better be ready show a good reason to the families whose Son's & Daughter's are sent to fight those wars. "No more generation wars!" Fight to a quick end or resolution. Go in and get the hell out. No nation building let the our enemies restore their country and pick their own leaders.
