If

If I remember right, today in 1863, was the day Lee and Pickett over ruled Longstreet and a charge was made. Yes, I'm from the north but that was one sad day for many a good man. May all their souls have gone to Heaven.
There's a new book out, written by Newt Gingrige (I spelled that wrong). It's about how the south could have won that battle. Hell, I can think of a few ways. First, they shouldn't have fought it.

Stay healthy,
Andy

There were a lot of battles the North should have won but, for some reason or another.

What if's may be fun but not realistic.

I believe this was the day that Civil War slowly turned toward the North's favor.

I don't think it was a slow change at that point. Lee return to VA as usual, and the Federals followed as usual. The change happened when a new General of the Army was appointed. Grant did what was necessary to show that the Northern armies were going to operate differently. Like Keith, I am a Yankee.

Gettysburg could have been a Confederate victory by doing what they normally did - fought a defensive action on day two or three.
