Ok, Joy...Admittedly I tryed to inject a bit of deadpan there, but the reality, in fact, begs the question. I mean, what`s to become of the Right Reverends Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and of course Jeremiah(God Damn America)Wright?

Much of what happened Tuesday in Washington, DC was historic, and much of it was incredibly low-rent. I’m trying to decide which trumps the other as the legacy of the day, and I still haven’t made up my mind. I’m leaning toward the latter, especially now that I read stuff like this, which, by the way, is now posted on the official White House website:

President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.

Reverend Lowery Blew a Hole in the POST-RACIAL MYTH



Since President Obama won the election, all you heard about was that we were entering a post-racial society. That the election was the fulfillment of Martin Luther King's dream.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

And the moment was inspiring, Obama stood at the — at the threshold of history. As he himself said, fifty years ago a black man couldn't be served at lunch counters in some cities. Barack Obama stood in front of millions of Americans on the steps of the Capitol Building surrounded by people of all skin colors, all religions, all political persuasions and was sworn into the highest office in the land.

The speech was not up to his usual oratory standards as if he didn't want his words to take away from the moment. The opening speech by Rick Warren was inclusive and meant to unite:

The Scripture tells us Hear, oh Israel, the Lord is our God; the Lord is one. And you are the compassionate and merciful one. And you are loving to everyone you have made. Now today we rejoice not only in America's peaceful transfer of power for the 44th time. We celebrate a hinge-point of history with the inauguration of our first African-American president of the United States.We are so grateful to live in this land, a land of unequaled possibility, where the son of an African immigrant can rise to the highest level of our leadership.

The same can't be said of the Reverend Joseph E. Lowery, he ended his speech by taking the post-racial society and shoving it up the backside of white America.

“We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right,” --Reverend Lowery

At the beginning of the primary season, the African-American community was supporting Hillary Clinton. It was the WHITE community that made Barack Obama the Democratic Party Candidate.

So what does he mean by White Embracing What is Right? In my mind if white America embraced what is right, someone ELSE would have been inaugurated today. Did today's post-racial inauguration end with calling white America RACIST?

Is this how the post-racial Obama administration begins? That someday the brown can stick around, the yellow can remain mellow, and the white will embrace what's right?

Mr. President, you keep talking about the end of partisan bickering, how you want to come together, is that what you meant by asking us to reject people who would drive a wedge through America and divide us?

Mr. President, if this is the "post-racial" world you are talking about...I am not buying.

Race Baiting at the Inauguration- Black Sphere on ECR Tonight

Frankly I expected Barack Obama to play the race card at some point. I was even thinking of taking predictions on the radio show. It was a persistent theme in the campaign, and it's been ever-present during the media's post-coital bliss/pre-inauguration buildup. So I'm not surprised that Barack Obama has decided to keep the race card on the table for his presidency.

What surprised me is the swiftness with which the issue presented itself, and the moral certainty with which the excoriation of all things "white" was delivered. I didn't expect it to happen during the inauguration. And I certainly didn't expect Barack Obama to allow condemnation of an entire race at his own inauguration.

The Rev. Joseph Lowry opened a lot of old wounds unnecessarily yesterday with his mini racist tirade, praying to God that White be made right. Upon hearing this, President Obama smiled a smug smile and gave the Reverend a warm hug. I wonder if he would have responded similarly if Rick Warren had made a point of praying for unborn children in his invocation?

The media thought the Reverend was cute. I wonder why they didn't think Trent Lott's joke about Strom Thurmond was cute?

I for one think a political wildfire could happen if Black families ever realize how out of sync the agenda of the left is with their personal beliefs. Obama needs to take lessons from Clinton for putting on the proper face for the audience or maybe he did. :rolleyes:

It seems that the Rev. Joseph Lowery's poetic stylings during his inaugural benediction were inspired by a postwar blues song, "Black Brown and White." According to Everything2.com, "Big Bill" Broonzy composed the tune in 1947, because he was "increasingly dissatisfied with the slow pace of social change" had "had been especially hopeful that black participation in World War II would lead to greater social equality back home." American record companies refused to record it, the site reports, but he did record it in Europe. Here's the final stanza and the refrain:

I helped win sweet victory,
With my little plow and hoe.
Now I want you to tell me brother,
What you gonna do 'bout the old Jim Crow

Now, if you was white, you is alright,
If you was brown, stick around,
But if you is black, oh brother,
Get back, get back, get back

My observation: It did lead to greater social equality. It just took a lot longer than people hoped or feared. Now in our PC world, it still will not be recorded as a blues song.
