Melody...(and anyone who likes flowers)...
 

About three years ago, I went to Home Depot garden department to get some fertilizer.

On the way out I glanced into their garbage can, and saw that they had thrown away a potted plant.

Basically, what I saw was a dead stick in a small pot of bone-dry potting soil.

But my eye happened to catch a tiny bit of green on the stick.

Having always been the compassionate sort, I fished it out of the garbage and brought it home.

It survived and has grown some each year.

This is the first summer it has had buds.

I'm thinking it's a hibuscus, but I don't know what variety.

I saved it and now it is paying me back. :)
