Flag Day

Tomorrow, June 14, 2002, is National Flag Day. I hope everyone honors the flag and displays it proudly and properly. Our Flag has been the world's brightest beacon for over 200 years. It has welcomed people from all over this world to our shores, as they came in search of freedom and in persuit of their dreams.
No falg in the world flies as high or higher than that of the United States of America. It instills pride, as no other embelm can. It also instills both fear and respect like none other. Even our most bitter enemies both fear and respect it. They hate the freedoms it represents, while at the same time longing for those same freedoms. They respect the power it represents, while hating the fact that they know they will never be able to enjoy that same power. A power that comes not from forced subjection, but out of love and a willingness to sacrifice all, if need be, to preserve the freedoms that flag represents.
Our flag has survived the disgrace of being burned in protests, yet still commands the respect earned through the generousity of the nation it represents.
Our flag was born during the battle for independence, chistened with the blood of our forefathers and defended even today, 200 later, by the sons and daughters of this nation.
No other flag in history has stood for so much, while demanding so little of its people, yet so vehemantly defended.
Fly her high and proudly tomorrow, my brothers and sisters, for the world needs a hero today, more than ever.

Flies every day...

...depending on the weather otherwise...

...I took some rolls of film from the largest flag day parade in the Nation up here the other day, (Sun) ,and it might take a few days to get them on disc, however I will send them to Bern to post after getting them back, I can't send them as my daughter reworked my internal componets of my computer, and sent my cd driver out into cyberland someplace,...

...The flag day in Troy originated when a man by the name of "Jimmy Passinella" got pissed off after returning from Vietnam, and seeing our flag being burned in protests...

...He put up a bunch of his own money, and staged his own parade in demonstration of them...

...the parade has grown yearly, and this year, we had 40,000 to 50,000 people line the streets in rememberence of what our flag truly represents FREEDOM...

...Freedom to live in the greatest nation in the world,...

... there is an old expression saying "Gods Country",...

... This choosin Nation is God's Country because of that one singular word...

...FREEDOM...

...We got it..., and were gonna keep it, no matter what we have to do, to do it.............

Flag day

There are some good flag poems and stories on the net. Maybe someone more computer savvy than me can post some of them here. The one I'm thinking of is called "I am the flag" or "I am your Flag."

Please also retire your old flags properly. Ours and a neighboring legion post will conduct flag retirement ceremomies tomorrow night. All you need do is to take your worn out flags to your local legion post and they will take care of it.
