Partial Winner

After the usual number of years of doing battle with the VA, my disability percent was upped to 40. This increase brought with it bunch of feelings: there are guys and gals out there who probably haven't had any luck whatsoever with the VA, even getting their first recognition of service connected stuff. While I'm grateful for the bump, the concommitant decrease in retired pay serves only as a reminder that we still are truly second class citizens; any other employee, civilian or government, would receive both disability pay and retired pay. Now here's the solution to concurrent receipt:

We go into Iraq, surround the oil fields and associated production facilities, and then start selling the stuff on the open market. All profits go into the Concurrent Receipt Pot, and any left over will accrue directly to the US Armed Forces to pay for the other part of the war. Keep pumping Achmed, me and Gimpy and others want our payback. :D

Enough is enough

I don't think carreer military should get any more benefits than that other patriotic, self sacrificing group: Congress. I think veterans benefits for retired military should be tied directly to when Congress votes themselves another increase, it automaticly includes retired military. Now, that would be enough. I know one thing. There would be none of this sniveling about the budget if their pocket came under the same auspices.
