Not only burns - now bugs!
BALI 'bugs" resistant to antibiotics and never seen before by Australian doctors, are thriving in the horrific burns injuries of the Kuta attack victims from Bali. Patients being treated at Royal Perth, Royal Darwin and Concord Repatriation Hospitals, brought the organisms back in their wounds. They are resistant to anti-microbial drugs and are proving difficult to treat. Doctors at Concord Hospital, treating the Bali victims are reporting an unusual amount of gangrene and, as a result, amputations. This has been attributed to the severity of the injuries and the extent of the injuries from shrapnel causing the death of soft tissue. Once the muscle tissue dies, these organisms take over.
