I got this in an e-mail today. I haven't seen it since Vietnam. We were in luxurious Bien Hoa waiting on Tet Offensive II. It didn't happen and we went a little crazy. I'm the handsome devil sitting on the sand bags. Ain't changed a bit.

Great picture Doc
Hi Doc. I just got through viewing that old picture of you. After doing so, I looked through an old scrapbook I still have from my own Tour of Duty in Vietnam. I found a picture of myself and it suddenly hit me that WE ALL LOOKED ABOUT THE SAME during those days in Vietnam.
Same attempt to grow a good mustache. Same thin build, and The same look that we could lick the entire world if we had to. How times have changed though: Now I am almost twice the size that I was when I served in Vietnam, Can't climb the stairs, or run, without much pain all over the body, and Wanting to know where all the years have disappeared to so quickly. The worst part though is the INTENSE SENSE OF SADNESS for our Buddies we lost, while doing our year over there! The commonly stated phrase of: ALL GAVE SOME but SOME GAVE ALL is as true today as it was back when we all did our time in Vietnam. From one, slightly older, Vietnam Vet to another though: WELCOME HOME BROTHER: VIETNAM 1968 :o |
Yeah
The sadness never leaves but neither does the love. Welcome home |
