6 Aug 1969

While sleeping in my bunk at the 6th Conv. Center in Cam Ranh Bay recovering from my July wounds, the hospital was attacked by NVA Sappers. The NVA had come in from the sea and were tossing sachel charges into the wards. It was a hell of a night.

This post is for the 3 patients that were killed and the 90+ that were re-wounded. May God Bless them all!

It also was my birthday.....a happy birthday message from my long lost Uncle Ho!

Always, to those who did not return.

Airborne!

Packo

PS Going on a trip to see my mom and possibly attend the 1st Annual Grim Reapers MC reunion. I will proudly wear my Psyco Vets Colors, if I decide to attend. Still up in the air about this one. Aint no 1%er no mo.

Damn fella,

Couldn't you find a better way to "celebrate" than THAT!?

Anyway, hope this one is MUCH better than that one. Once again, God bless those that didn't make it that day-----AND,,, those that DID as well.

B-day

Aug. 5th - Date of my first purple heart, grenade frags in the head.

Aug. 6th - Packo gets born and bad juju at Cam Ranh.

Aug. 7th - My wife got married (to me).

Sort of a rough string of days. Happy birthday, I guess.

Stay healthy,
Andy
PS: Grim Reapers weren't shit. (I can say that now, don't fight them any more. )

I guess there is something symmetrical about being wounded and getting married in the same week (although not the same year. )Congrats Andy. :D Paco if you go look up Dutch Sanor , National enforcer for G.R.for awhile , helped me build my bike after his dungeon got closed down. :a:

Paco,

THANKS ONE OF HELL ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are Veterans on here that think or thought that Cam Ranh Bay was very safe from the front lines.

I spent (on and off 3 and one half years there), and believe me, there was alot of action, But NONE compared to the field units.

I left there in June 1969, and was stationed at the Naval Air Facility, just minutes from the Air Force, Army, and the Marines.

We had bunkers, we had arms, we had ammo, we had all it takes to protect us, and yes including the wounded .

Cam Rhan Bay is suppose to be a Rehab center for the injured, just like MASH units were, but further away from the actually goings on.

You are only the second person on any site I have been to that admits that he/she was in CRB.

One even said that he wouldnt put his (side arm) up in a locker , just cause he was there. Got to go along with that, I kept my M16 with me in the barracks all times, and the 45 on my waist all times. Being an E5 I could do that.

In the Long Run.

CRB wasnt a picnic either ( even though the Air Force) had a Massage Parlor on their base across from the runways of which we the Navy visited quite a bit.

enough...........
