THEY MARCHED INTO SUNLIGHT is a new book (Simon & Schuster) about Vietnam which is due out this fall.

It is refreshing. It brings the war into a perspective not yet looked at.

The book weaves together 2 tumultuous and simultaneous events 1) The deadly ambush of a First Infantry Division Battalion in October, 1967 (The Battle of Ong Thanh) and 2) A simultaneous protest of the war at the University of Wisconsin.

The book is spellbinding and is written by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mariness along with the advice of DSC winner Clark Welch, a company commander with the ambushed battalion.
