Reinstitute The Draft?
:cd:
Okay - America is committed to open-ended "War on Terrorism" and "War on Drugs". These are said to be "Global War". No telling where the services are gonna be deployed next in the coming decades. As of today it could be North Korea, Syria, Iran, Africa, South America... and we're in holding patterns in Balkans and Afghanistan. Isn't it about time to put the draft back into effect? :d: |
A country this size and so many issues on the table and a conflict being fought world wide I think the draft should be reinstated. It will help many of these young kids get out of some bad situations and allow them to start up fresh in a whole new element.
The country won't take us old dogs back so in order to rotate troops they will need more soldiers. Forget foreign help they aren't dependable and have issues of their own other than ours. The draft should come back and I'd say a minimum of two - three years should be everyones contribution to society. They will benefit from the new technology and get to travel and see things they may never get an opportunity to do. |
No , but if they do my daughter better be in the same Basic class as the Bush twins.

I agree there can be no exceptions regardless of class or connections.

I am for the Draft.
But, where are we going to put all the draftee's and what are they going to do? Many, many bases have been closed and the ones that are open now lack in good base housing etc. As long as the Volunteer services are making quota and we have a reserve and NG components....there will be no draft. I would just like to see a draft to watch and see how fast the college students in this country would start to whine, cry, and demonstrate that their precious little lives would be disrupted.
1. No college deferments. 2. No deferments at all except to the truly mentally ill and disabled. 3. Not sure about women being drafted. Sounds logical but torn. Packo |
Yes, and HELL yes, to all the above.
Thing is folks, I do believe we ARE gonna need some help here in the not too distant future, the way talking heads keep on talking (with and without any common sense) and making decisions we do not get to share in knowing. It takes a lot of time to gear up for a draft, we know that. One (of the very few) congressional vet, Rangel, has come out for it. Even liberals would have a hard time going against that fella. |
