What celebrities have served honorably in wartime or peacetime?

I know qabout Clark Gable, Elvis, Gene Autry, James Arness, Lee Marvin.

Anyone know of any others?

Wasnt our most lovable " queer " on the show threes company ( only in the show was he queer, but it seems as if they ( hollywood ) said he was in the service, or how about the most famous of our life JFK, he was considered a celebrity, right.

BTW, Wont be long now for him, but Tiger Woods.

Famous Artist John Ford Clymer , after the war he painted the murals for the National Marine Museum.

ROD SERLING [Twilight Zone]- Was a paratrooper and made a combat jump into Corregidor, P.I., in WWII.

JACK WARDEN [character actor]- Was a paratrooper with the 101st Abn. Div. in WWII. He was supposed to make the night jump for the D-Day invasion, but broke his leg on the last practice jump in England.

JIMI HENDRIX [musician]- Was a paratrooper with the 82nd Abn. Div. in the early '60s.

TED WILLIAMS [baseball player]- Highly decorated Korean War combatant.

That guy on ER...The big cranky one. He was in Viet Nam.

Okay, so he wasn't an actor but he was a famous celebrity...Mohammed Ali.

Audie Murphy still holds the record as the most decorated soldier ever. There is a great posting on him at the CMOH website.

Clint Eastwood...not sure if it is true, but saw a biography on him once that said he was private in the Marine Corp on his way to Korea, his ship sank and he swam six miles to shore in the Aleutian Islands, off the coast of Alaska. The Marines brought him back to the United States and sent him on a PR tour, thus starting his acting career.
