Dear Ms. Kass:

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on H.R. 4425, the Honor Our Fallen Prisoners of War Act. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

Like you, I believe that we should make sure that all those who sacrifice themselves for our country as prisoners of war are honored appropriately. As you know, H.R. 4425 would award the Purple Heart to members of the Armed Forces who die in captivity. In addition, this bill would award Purple Hearts retroactively to December 7, 1941, ensuring that those who have already given their lives to our country are properly honored. It is important that we recognize those who give up their lives fighting for America's cause. Be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind regarding this bill should it come to the House floor.

Again, it's good to hear from you. The people of Marin and Sonoma counties are the most important voices I listen to as I serve in Congress.
