The Patriot Files Forums - Six Shots At Disaster?

I just viewed a program on television that pointed out the fact that six (6) nuclear submarines lie ominously upon our ocean?s floors, entombed in watery graves! Four of these subs are Russian (or Soviet if you prefer), and two are products of the United States!!

Of course, the two governments who tragically lost these submarines and the sailors aboard, emphatically claim that some of these under-seas craft were not, at the time of their sinking, nuclear armed!? The facts, however, point out that some were indeed carrying the stuff of disaster!

?So what is the real story - are these crippled ruins still housing an accident waiting to happen?? Apparently, some in power, the military and science community included, seem to feel that there is an inherent danger lingering in silence deep below the angry waves! As a matter of fact, the subs themselves (those that can be reached that is), are regularly tested for radiation leaks and erosion!

So tell me again - what would happen if one of the nuclear torpedoes or missiles still contained within the dissolving hulls of these disabled goliaths totally gave way, exposing a red-hot reactor or a nuclear-tipped warhead? Is there a danger of eventual detonation, or at the least, a massive radiation leak? ?And what would be the end result of such a catastrophic event??

Would radiation eventually find itself to the surface and into the air. Or would it merely linger for centuries, poisoning fisheries and populations worldwide?

Some in government would have us believe that this lethal radiation would just be naturally contained and eventually dissipate? Others say that, like a ticking time bomb, it would be just a matter of time until the environment was poisoned, just as surely as if these missiles would have been launched in anger!

What then will be the fate of mankind, as all of the political assurances in the world, can not contain the malignant nuclear genie forever, now could they? And have no doubts about it, many people could indeed die!

Or is the panic that still surrounds Three Mile Island and Chernobyl just a figment of our overactive and paranoid imaginations?
