AETC bases rope in 10 awards at Rodeo

RANDOLPH AFB, Texas (AETCNS) -

"Teams from two Air Education and Training Command bases showed the world their top form by taking home a total of 10 awards during the Air Mobility Rodeo 2005 at McChord Air Force Base, Wash.

The 314th Airlift Wing team from Little Rock AFB, Ark., brought home the best C-130/C-160 wing and best airdrop wing trophies, as well as awards for the best C-130 postflight team, best C-130 maintenance team and best C-130 airdrop crew.

The 97th Air Mobility Wing team from Altus AFB, Okla., brought home the first place trophy for best C-17 shortfield landing crew. The team also captured trophies for best C-5 aircrew, best C-5 air refueling crew, best C-5 postflight team and best aerial port 10K forklift operators.

According to Col. Joseph Reheiser, 314th AW commander, the level of competition proved the skill of the Little Rock team.

"The C-130 wing award is huge," the colonel said. "The C-130 category had the most competitors - more than double in any other competition. To be the best with that many competitors says a lot about the 314th Airlift Wing and Little Rock. We have world-class Airmen and world-class leadership -- top to bottom."

The Altus team members were especially proud of the teamwork that helped shower them with trophies, said Maj. Gregory Rankin, 97th AMW C-5 aircrew team chief.

"The best part was we won the awards as a crew and not with the performance of just one individual," he said. "The Rodeo experience helped us further relate our Air Education and Training Command mission of producing the absolute best C-5 aircrew members for the Air Force and Air Mobility Command."

Thirty-seven teams from the Air Force and six foreign countries competed during the six-day event. "

You must be very proud!

To have earned four Bests in the 130 is quite an achievement.
