Republican Candidate's Call for Forced Labor Camp for Immigrants Angers Two GOP Lawma
This makes sense to me. Instead of sending what few we catch back to Mexico, where they turn around and come over again...make them work for awhile....but NOOOOOOOO !!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireS...C-RSSFeeds0312 GOP Candidate's Call for Labor Camp Rebuked Republican Candidate's Call for Forced Labor Camp for Immigrants Angers Two GOP Lawmakers By JENNIFER TALHELM WASHINGTON Jun 23, 2006 (AP)? A Republican gubernatorial candidate's call for creation of a forced labor camp for illegal immigrants drew rebukes Friday from two GOP lawmakers, who labeled it a low point in the immigration debate. Don Goldwater, nephew of the late Sen. Barry Goldwater, caused an international stir this week when EFE, a Mexican news service, quoted him as saying he wanted to hold undocumented immigrants in camps to use them "as labor in the construction of a wall and to clean the areas of the Arizona desert that they're polluting." The article described Goldwater's plan as a "concentration camp" for migrants. Goldwater, a candidate for governor in Arizona, said in a statement Friday that his comments were taken out of context. He said he was calling for a work program for convicted nonviolent felons, similar to "tried and tested, effective and accepted practices" used by state and local jails. But two Republicans, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Rep. Jim Kolbe, called Goldwater's comments "deeply offensive" and asked state Republicans to reject his candidacy in the Sept. 12 primary. "That Mr. Goldwater is either unaware of or indifferent to the loaded symbolism, injustice and un-Americanism of his 'plan' to address the many serious issues caused by illegal immigration reveals his flaws as a candidate and a stunning lack of respect for the basic values of a generous and decent society," McCain said in a statement. Kolbe said that if the comments are true, Goldwater "has demonstrated his complete unworthiness for public office, and I am confident he will be soundly rejected by Republicans from the party of Barry Goldwater, who consistently demonstrated his compassion and respect for all people. This is a sad day in the national debate on immigration policy." McCain and Kolbe favor a guest-worker program for illegal immigrants. Goldwater made a similar comment at an April anti-immigration rally. "Build us that wall now!" Goldwater said, referring to a proposal to add 700 miles of fences along the U.S.-Mexico border. He promised then that if elected, he would put illegal immigrants in a tent city on the border and use their labor to build the wall. Sounds like a fine plan to me. At least somebody is thinking of ways of dealing with the situation instead of blowing hot air and doing nothing.

McCain is a totally gutless wonder when it comes to immigration reform, that his comments don't surprise me at all. Add to it his illustrative addition to campaign finance reform and perhaps you'll see the weasel that he is.
I really like the idea of working inmates as part of their repayment to society for the crimes, and illegal immigrants, i.e., wetbacks, should be right in there cleaning up the mess they create. |
Hmmm, I guess I never knew I was so abused. Navy called such activity a ?work party? and the poor Swabbies in the transit barracks ?X? company got the, really, really nasty jobs. Going over to the harbor boat yards and scraping hull or camel barnacles was just pure, nasty, dog work and the labor boss was usually one of the nicest, most considerate Boatswain?s Mates in the entire fleet, ya right.
Can I protest retroactively? McCain, he?s my man, if he can?t help, no one can. But hodit, hodit, I?m just a mere US Citizen and Fleet Sailor at the time, so I got no gripes coming, right. Maybe it?s just better to go pout n? snivel forever. ;) Scamp |
When I was a kid politically correct might probably meant a Barry Goldwater solution of simple common sense but today it's an oxymoron and McCain don't have no oxy.

Ja, ve vill zend zose undermenchen to za kamps. Ja. Sieg Heil, mein kandidate.
What's next..the gas? |
Holy Moley - ain't that a bit harsh, comparing a chain-gang from a prison to a Nazi death camp? Chain-gangs as experienced by certain counties in Arizona have resulted in a marvelous decline in the recidivism rate.

Oh Oh not here in the good ole USA making peole work to clean up what they made dirty.

Ja, und maybe ve may haff a trial zumday. Ja, zumday ve may make it a stadt law zat der undermenschen must go to za kamps. Und, maybe ve just zend dose pipple von Texas to za kamps alzo.
Vy vorry about such a legality az breaking stadt law. Zese undermench haff keine rights. Ach, fuch der trial. Come on. Being an illegal is not a state crime, but a federal crime. The state has no legal authority to send an illegal anywhere..except to turn them over to the feds. This idea is disgusting. It is about as American as der SS. |
Let's try this method!
TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER.
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY: Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona) who created the "tent city jail": He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them. He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies. He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects. Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination. He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel. When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs. He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value. When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back." With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts. On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before. Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their pink socks. "It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the tents for 1 year. "It's inhumane." Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!" Way to go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves. |
