Mr Farnie, Sir!
Is that you, and "Birdman" to the left in photograph? (In other words, to "your right in photograph"). By the way.... Have not seen Birdmans handle in many moons. When you talk next time, please give him my warmest whishes, and tell him I would very much enjoy seeing his handle again! T G C! Sincerely A.B |
No Alfie, that's not me but it is Birdman on the left. He had emailed me asking about the "Board" being down. Since it's back in operation, I'll let him know. He didn't post much but like me stopped in almost every day.

Too much noise
Rain gear made way to much noise. Carried a poncho liner and that was it.

Yea Pho I agree. The picture I posted was taken before my squad was to go on a night ambush. We soon discovered that the rain gear did in fact make a ton of noise and took it off. Hey we were FNG?s, what did we know. Hey we figured that the Army issued it to us so it must have been good, right? |
Noise
No you didn't wear a rain coat or a poncho when you wanted to be quiet. But standing in the rain on a LZ at a base camp or a Firebase it sure was nice. That rain was so cold.

Ron and bill
We got those gray rain coats with a hood during a moonsoon in 1968. I think they they were made out of rubber and had pants that came with them too. It poured rain for days. The roads and everything turned in to deep mud. Our trucks couldn't move in it. Bill didn't you and I post [talk] about that same moonsoon a while back on this site?
