In the Orient, its all bamboo!
Whats really amazing is that in the places Ive been to in Asia, they do it all with bamboo, splicing it with bamboo strips. I'm talking dozens and dozens of stories high, as high as this.
Unbelievable I used to work on high scaffolds all the time, was in heavy construction as a welder for most of the 70s. After the Army, heights didn't bother me. I still walk construction in a way many people think is too confident---well shoot, if you can't walk plates you sure aint much of a framer |

Thats quite a job all you high workers do ... when the quake hits, that spot where i be standing will be under 9 ft of glass. i've seen them old pictures of the Iron Workers having lunch on a Steel Beam overlooking New York City ... jeeze. i jumped a couple of times as a civilian ... still very uncomfortable with heights ... like i will stand 10 feet away from the edge of The Grand Canyon (at least 10 feet). |
